Safety

Anyone ‘backstage’ in the Edmonton Expo Centre MUST be either a performing members, staff with wristband or support personal with a wristband.

This is for everyone's safety. NO EXCEPTIONS

Performing groups should move through the event site AS A GROUP. It will be extremely busy backstage, and will greatly help event volunteers if groups remain together at all times.

New for 2026

Tunnel Etiquette:

  • Please check in with the monitors before travelling the tunnel.

  • Everyone must stick to the LEFT when travelling the tunnel.

Props & Floors:

  • Should be brought and stored in the Sales Ring (near performance space) upon group’s arrival.

  • Large props that are too tall for the entry doors may be assembled and stored near the performance exit. See map for details.

Timing Line & Announcement 2:

  • The unit will wait at the timing line until the timing judge indicates they can pass it. Once they pass this line their interval time will begin.

  • A staff member will need to remain with the timing judge to confirm when the unit is ready to perform, at which point announcement 2 will be queued, followed by audio track (guards & winds).

Quick Changes:

  • Can occur in the washrooms near the performance exit. Members can pre-set their items here ahead of their performances.

  • Once changed, performers may re-enter the performance space FROM THE EXIT - DO NOT go back to the performers entrance, simply retrace the path back to the performance space and re-enter when the 2nd group interval time begins. See map for details.

NO Retreat:

  • Groups may depart once they have packed, post-performance.

Watch as many shows as possible!

  • Performers and those with wristbands are permitted into spectator seats, free of charge.

Warm Up

Note: IT IS CRITICAL THAT GROUPS DO NOT ENTER THE WARM UP SPACE PRIOR TO THEIR DESIGNATED TIME and that GROUPS EXIT AT THEIR DESIGNATED TIME. This is in the interest of everyone's safety by reducing the chaos in the space. GROUPS THAT VIOLATE THIS MAY BE DISQUALIFIED AND/OR HAVE PRIVILEGES REVOKED AT FUTURE EVENTS.

Dedicated AMAA Logistics staff will monitor performance space and warm-ups to ensure smooth flow between spaces. Please keep eyes up for queues from these folks.

Guard: schedule allows for ~3x their class interval time as warm up in Hall B. Guards may use speakers in warm up - Provided it does not overtake the room for other warmups and ongoing performances.

Percussion & Winds: schedule allows for lengthy warm ups in Hall C. Percussion and Winds warm ups are scheduled with sound overlap. Please self-monitor and move to the tunnel when appropriate for your group.

Performers with Multiple Groups

It’s very exciting that our community offers multiple opportunities for members to perform! Although AMAA has tried to separate groups with shared members in the performance order, we know that it will be a rush for those members.

  • Quick Changes can occur in the washrooms near the performance exit. Members can pre-set their items here ahead of their performances.

  • Once changed, performers may re-enter the performance space FROM THE EXIT - DO NOT go back to the performers entrance, simply retrace the path back to the performance space and re-enter when the 2nd group interval time begins. See map for details

  • Groups should NOT cross the timing line until all members are in the performance gym

  • MC script has lots of content to share - be sure to take a breath and get into the zone

Any day-of concerns can be shared with the AMAA Logistical Liaisons Bonnie or Grace upon arrival on-site.
