Spirit of Alberta Marching Band & Colourguard

The first competition of the season begins at 1 pm. We ask that your group arrives at Magrath Junior Senior High School between 11:00 - 12:30am. Equipment must be unloaded through the performers entrance - behind the school, accessible in the parking lot. Site plan attached.

The schedule allows for a 15 minute equipment warm up in the auditorium (audi) gym. Groups may choose to complete their body warm up in the adjacent hallways. Please be respectful of space, and noise levels while performances are underway.

NEW in 2026: Dedicated AMAA Logistics staff will monitor performance space and warm-ups to ensure smooth flow between spaces. Please keep eyes up for queues from these folks.

There is NO Retreat at this event. Groups may depart once they have packed, post-performance.

Note: IT IS CRITICAL THAT GROUPS DO NOT ENTER THE WARM UP SPACE PRIOR TO THEIR DESIGNATED TIME. This is in the interest of everyone's safety by reducing the chaos in the space. GROUPS THAT VIOLATE THIS MAY BE DISQUALIFIED AND/OR HAVE PRIVILEGES REVOKED AT FUTURE EVENTS.

Groups are encouraged to watch performances - no wristbands required for spectator seats.

Please ensure that your floor is ready to unfold accordingly.

Floors may be quickly folded in the performance area, provided that doing so will not slow the show.

Performers with Multiple Groups

It’s very exciting that our community offers multiple opportunities for members to perform! Although AMAA has tried to separate groups with shared members in the performance order, we know that it will be a rush for those members.

  • Quick Changes can occur in the storage classrooms or in the washrooms

  • Groups should NOT cross the timing line until all members are in the performance gym

  • MC script has lots of content to share - be sure to take a breath and get into the zone

Any day-of concerns can be shared with the AMAA Logistical Liaisons Kareen, Sam, Bonnie or Grace upon arrival on-site.

Sound & Script

Performance Music needs to be uploaded via CompetitionSuite

Script Spiels can be updated with the Mid-Season Change Form
